As the Director of Ensemble Operations, Linda Goodwin supervises the entire operation of the Ensemble Office and Library and its staff; co-manages the personnel, rehearsal, and performance activities of the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, Peabody Concert Orchestra, and Conductors Orchestra; and assembles the annual concert and rehearsal schedule. Once students have enrolled they might want to talk to Linda about ensemble activities and requirements, degree requirements, absences from ensembles (including medical injuries and time off from concerts), and recital scheduling. As a member of the conservatory faculty, Linda teaches courses in Copyrights and Contracts, and Arts Administration and Orchestral Management. As curator of the instrument collection she handles instrument rentals and loans for majors, minors, and music education students, and provides advice on instrument repairs. Anyone interested in donating an instrument to the collection should contact Linda.

Senior Ensemble Coordinator

Paul Faatz functions as the orchestra and chorus librarian for the Conservatory, and is responsible for the distribution of music for all orchestral and choral ensembles. He is also responsible for the rental and purchase of all music used by the Conservatory's large ensemble program, as well as the purchase and rental of all instruments, instrumental supplies, and other items required by the large ensemble program. He handles the day-to-day management of all budgets administered by the Ensemble Office. One of Paul's primary responsibilities involves ensuring the legality of all performances which take place at Peabody through the negotiation of contracts and license agreements. All questions pertaining to copyrights and other legal matters relevant to Peabody performances should be directed to him. Paul also coordinates the large ensemble reading sessions which are provided as a service to the school's Composition Department, and any questions regarding these readings should be referred to him.

Rich Lauver manages the personnel, rehearsal, and performance activities of the Peabody Wind Ensemble, Peabody Chamber Winds, Peabody Camerata, and Peabody Jazz Orchestra. He maintains student attendance records for these ensembles, so excuse requests for missed services from these ensembles should be submitted to and discussed with Rich. To fulfill the often unusual needs of the Peabody Camerata, Rich frequently recruits musicians from other Peabody ensembles to participate with this contemporary chamber music group. He also provides Ensemble Library support to the Peabody Youth Orchestra, maintains the Ensemble Office and Ensembles web pages, and assists with various other Peabody ensembles and events on an as-needed basis.

Melina Gajger co-manages the personnel, rehearsal, and performance activities of the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, Peabody Concert Orchestra, and Conductors Orchestra. She maintains student attendance records for these ensembles, so excuse requests for missed services from these ensembles should be submitted to and discussed with Melina. Any questions regarding timecards and payment for Conductors Orchestra should also be referred to Melina. Additionally, she is responsible for overseeing a staff of part-time student assistants who mark bowings for orchestra string parts, and assists with various other Peabody ensembles and events on an as-needed basis.

Stage Manager Darryl Carr prepares the stages in the various halls for large ensemble rehearsals and performances. He also works with the Concert Office to coordinate set-ups for degree recitals, master classes, lectures, and competitions. Due to the number of events for which Darryl is responsible, he is not available to provide set-ups for recital rehearsals, non-degree recitals, studio recitals, and classes. The nature of this job involves responsibilities in several different locations, often at the same time, keeping Darryl constantly on the move. Consequently, messages for Darryl may be left in the Ensemble Office, or by phone at 410-234-4512. The Stage Manager's office is located in Room P20C in the Conservatory.

Doug Nelson is the production manager for the Opera Department and hires backstage personnel for all Peabody opera productions. He is also the technical director for the Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall and is Peabody's resident lighting designer.
