Serap Bastepe-Gray, a performer, lecturer, consultant and pedagogue, holds a medical doctor degree from Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey, and a master of music in guitar performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She performs as soloist and in duo with renowned classical guitarist Julian Gray and has enlarged the guitar ensemble repertoire through her many arrangements and compositions. Bastepe-Gray has collaborated with Peabody faculty in projects using interactive media targeting early instrumental pedagogy. Her articles have appeared in various music journals including Soundboard Magazine and Communitas. She lectures and consults on health and wellness issues for performing musicians and has participated as panelist and presenter in forums including the American Occupational Therapy Association, National Guitar Workshop, and the Performing Arts Medicine Association. She serves on the Maryland Occupational Therapy Association Board and the Executive Committee for the Society for Peabody Alumni. Bastepe-Gray is on the faculty at the Peabody Conservatory where she directs the guitar ensemble program, teaches music minors, and coaches chamber music.
