Coordinator of Performance/Pedagogy
Laura Parker earned a Bachelor of Music degree in music education from Washburn University, as well as a Master of Music Education degree and a PhD from University of Kansas, with an emphasis on flute performance. Dr. Parker is Pi Kappa Lambda and Phi Delta Kappa, and is the past president of MCUEA.
Dr. Parker founded the MMEA Mentorship Program, intended to help Maryland's new music teachers join and become involved in the professional community. She is an active adjudicator, guest conductor, clinician, and consultant. Her recent conference presentations include topics such as Assessment Tools Utilized in the Student Teaching Experience, Portfolio Development, Techniques for the Improvement of Rhythm-Reading Skill, and Flute: Tone and Technique Development.
