John Gingerich
Musicology
John M. Gingerich has published articles on Schubert's cello quintet, his Latin Masses, his Unfinished Symphony, and on Ignaz Schuppanzigh and Beethoven's Late Quartets. He is currently working on a book titled Schubert's Beethoven Project (Cambridge), for which he was awarded fellowships by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Council of Learned Societies. He received his PhD from Yale University. Before embarking on his musicology studies he studied cello at Peabody with Mihaly Virizlay, and spent several years playing in the cello section of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
