Ruth Inglefield


Ruth InglefieldRuth Inglefield made her debut at the age of 15, performing with the New York Philharmonic. She spent ten years as a concert harpist in Europe, then principal harpist with the Toledo Symphony and Toledo Opera Orchestra.

Dr. Inglefield earned her BA at Goucher College before earning the Ire Prix from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. At the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, she earned her MM and PhD in musicology. Dr. Inglefield studied with Marcel Grandjany at The Juilliard School, and later worked with Pierre Jamet and Nadia Boulanger while on a Fulbright Grant in France.

A former faculty member at Bowling Green State University, Dr. Inglefield as authored many books about Grandjany and harp notation, as well as numerous articles about historical and pedagogical topics, and transcriptions and teaching series for youngsters. Internationally, she has served as adjudicator, panelist, teacher, and soloist, and has premiered many substantial new works. Her recordings are available on Orion, Access, CRI, and Gasparo.
