Ruth Inglefield


Ruth InglefieldB.A., Goucher College; Ire Prix, Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris; M.M. (musicology), University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music; Ph.D. (musicology), University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Studied with Marcel Grandjany at The Juilliard School; later worked with Pierre Jamet and Nadia Boulanger while on a Fulbright Grant in France. Debut at age 15, performing with the New York Philharmonic. Ten years as a concert harpist in Europe, then principal harpist with the Toledo Symphony and Toledo Opera Orchestra. Former faculty, Bowling Green State University. Author of books on Grandjany and harp notation; numerous articles on historical and pedagogical topics; transcriptions and teaching series for youngsters. International activity as adjudicator, panelist, teacher, soloist; has premiered many substantial new works. Recordings available on Orion, Access, CRI, Gasparo.
