John An, BM2
Baritone John An is a sophomore vocal performance major studying with Dr. Steven Rainbolt at the Peabody Institute. John began his vocal training in his junior year of high school with Dr. Timothy Ballard. While studying with him, John competed in NATS – MD/DC and won 1st place in the Junior/Senior Beginning High School Men’s category and Junior/Senior Music Theater High School Men’s category. He was also awarded the Maryland Distinguished Scholar Award for the Arts. While studying with Dr. Rainbolt, John competed again and won 1st place in both state and regional levels for College Freshmen men. At Peabody, John has performed the role of Papageno in a scene from The Magic Flute and Bartolo from a scene in The Marriage of Figaro for the voice department’s Opera Scenes program.
Juliana Burdick, MM2
Juliana Burdick is currently in the second year of her Master of Music degree in vocal performance. She has a warm, lyric voice, which she employs to perform opera, art song, and opera works of the 21st Century. This year she performed the role of Nedda in a scene from I Pagliacci in the Peabody Voice Department scenes program. In May 2012 Juliana was featured in the world premiere of Radiant Maidens, a mini-opera by Michael Rickelton, with the Peabody Opera Department. In April 2012 she placed second at the NATS Regional Competition in the advanced college women’s category and was winner of the NATS Division 9 Competition in the senior women’s category, in 2010. In April 2011 she was featured as the soprano soloist with the Dickinson College Choir and Orchestra in a performance of Mozart’s Requiem. In May 2011 she was a soloist in the world premiere of Requiem-Elegy, by Robert Pound, a student of Milton Babbitt. In the fall of 2011 she played the role of Miranda in the world premiere of Ariel’s Tempest, by Douglas Allan Buchanan, with the Peabody Outreach Program. Outside of music, Juliana has a great love for art, funky accessories, and maintaining correspondence with friends and family via snail mail letter writing.
Nicole Cascione, MM1

Nicole Cascione, a native of New Jersey and began her classical music study at the age of seventeen. In 2012, Nicole graduated from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor or Music in Music in Education and is a certified music educator in the state of New Jersey. While at her undergraduate institution, Nicole studied with mezzo-soprano, Nora Sirbaugh. Nicole has performed in numerous productions with The Lyric Theater of the College of New Jersey; past roles include Pernille in John Duke’s, Captain Lovelock(March 2012), Rosina in Rossini’s, il barbiere di Siviglia (March 2011) and Despina in Mozart’s, Cosi fan tutte (November 2009). Nicole has demonstrated versatility in musical theater as well by performing the Baker’s Wife in Stephen Sondeim’s, Into the Woods (October 2010). Nicole has also sung as a soloist on the concert stage as well. In March 2011, Nicole sang as the soprano soloist in the North American premier of Georg Friedrich Hass’, Sieben Klangramäume, a collection of sound fragments composed by Hass comprised with the unfinished Mozart Requiem. The piece premiered in both St. Paul’s Cathedral in New York City as well as in New Jersey.
Nicholas Emory Dogas, MM2
Hailed as a "brilliant actor" with "strong vocal technique," baritone Nicholas Emory Dogas is emerging as a versatile and sensitive artist. Most recently, Mr. Dogas assumed the role of The Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance. Last season, he premiered two roles for Peabody Opera Theatre: Shakespeare in Ariel's Tempest, and Phil Larson in The Truth Is Not Out There. Prior, Mr. Dogas sang Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte with the Lyric Theatre of The College of New Jersey. In concert, he has been heard as soloist in the Fauré Requiem and Distler's A Little Advent Music. Upcoming engagements include Don Giovanni (cover) in Don Giovanni, and Frédéric in Lakmé with Peabody Opera Theatre. He will also premiere Songs of Flowers and Angry Poets for Andrew Haile Austin in October 2012.
Currently a Master of Music candidate, Mr. Dogas is studying with Dr. Steven Rainbolt. A recent graduate of The College of New Jersey, he holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, and is a certified teacher of music in the State of New Jersey. While completing his degree at The College, he studied with Suzanne Hickman.
Rebecca Evans, BM
Rebecca Evans is a fourth year vocal performance major in the studio of Steven Rainbolt. During her time at Peabody, she has performed as Diane in Marilyn’s Room, in the chorus of Suor Angelica, and in scenes from Cendrillon, Tartuffe, Die Zauberflöte, Idomeneo, and Die Entführung aus dem Serail. Last February, Rebecca performed the “Cat Duet” in the Peabody Singers’ tribute to Rossini. She was also seen as the Mistress in Evita and as country singer Mary Jo Kincaid in A Piece of My Heart, both with the Johns Hopkins University Barnstormers. This summer, Rebecca sang the role of Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro with Bel Cantanti Summer Opera Festival in DC. She also performed in scenes from Cosi fan tutte, L’elisir d’amore, L'incoronazione di Poppea, and Chicago with Opera NEO in San Diego. Prior to coming to Peabody, Rebecca performed extensively in her hometown of Williamsburg VA through a number of theatrical roles, including Jenny Lind in Barnum, Rosa Bud in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and Belinda Blair in Noises Off.
Ann Giancola

Ann Giancola, a soprano native to Ohio, has traveled the United States and South Africa performing with groups such as the Nightingale Opera Theatre, Capital University Chapel Choir, and Capital chamber ensemble Philomel. Her most recent roles include Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah, which she performed under the baton of Grammy award-winning conductor William Boggs at Capital University, as well as the roles of Jenny in Stephen Sondheim’s Company, and Anna Maurrant in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. In recent years she has competed at both the state and regional levels of the National Association of Teachers of Singing auditions, where she consistently received high rankings in the categories for college women. Ms. Giancola received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the Capital University Conservatory of Music, magna cum laude, and is currently studying with Steven Rainbolt as she pursues a Master of Music degree at the Peabody Institute. She is an avid reader and also enjoys studying piano.
Zoë Hamberger, BM2
Zoë hamberger, soprano, began her musical studies when she joined her first choir at age 10. Her love for music continued to grow as she pursued private voice lessons in high school, where she performed in several productions. In 2011, Ms. Hamberger won the Maryland Distinguished Scholar in the Arts Award from the State of Maryland Higher Education Commission. She is currently a second-year Bachelor of Music degree student in the studio of Steven Rainbolt.

Jeffrey Martin, MM2

American Bass-Baritone Jeffrey Martin, a native Marylander, is ardently pursuing his Masters Degree at the Peabody Institute at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Mr. Martin’s Peabody career took flight with The Peabody Conservatory as The Man with the Cornet Case/Puppet-master from Argento’s Postcard from Morocco, of which The Baltimore Sun said: “Jeffrey Martin brings solid tone and exemplary diction…” This formidable voice was heard this summer singing the roles of Osmin (Die Entfürung aus dem Serail), Sam (Trouble in Tahiti), Sergeant Bouncer (Cox and Box), and the Speaker (Die Zauberflöte) with Hubbard Hall Opera Theater in Cambridge, NY. Jeffrey has soared in opera scenes as Cecil (Maria Stuarda), Leporello, Osmin, and Colline. This fall, Jeffrey will perform Leporello (Don Giovanni) in Peabody’s collaboration with Lyric Opera Baltimore on the Lyric Opera stage.
Kihyun Moon, GPD2

Baritone Kihyun Moon, a native of South Korea, is a second year Graduate Performance Diploma student of Steven Rainbolt at the Peabody Conservatory of Music at the Johns Hopkins University. He is the recipient of the Peabody General Scholarship Award. He received his Bachelors of Music degree from Kyungwon University in South Korea and studied with Bong-ku Jeon. At Peabody, he has performed the role of Malatesta in a scene from G.Donizetti’s Don Pasquale for Peabody Opera Workshop presents, and Falstaff in a scene from A. Salieri’s Falstaff with Peabody’s Acting for Opera.
Joann Moorer

Joann Moorer, lyric soprano, is a second year Graduate Performance Diploma student of Steven Rainbolt at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland. This season, Ms. Moorer will sing the role of Zora in Ana Sokolovic's electrifying new opera, Svadba at Baltimore’s Theater Project and chorus in Peabody Opera Theater’s Don Giovanni at the Baltimore Lyric Opera House. Previous roles at Peabody include Ann Putnam in The Crucible, La Suor Zelatrice in Suor Angelica, First Bridesmaid in April Showers and chorus for Manon. Ms. Moorer recently performed minor roles and chorus in Romeo and Juliette and Suor Angelica with Bel Cantanti Opera Company and Don Giovanni with Repertory Opera Theater of Washington. She is the recipient of a graduate assistantship in opera and teaches voice at the Garrison Forest School in Owings Mills, MD.
Ms. Moorer is the Assistant Director of Music at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church, Washington D.C., a Colleague of The American Guild of Organists and holds music degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, summa cum laude and the Peabody Conservatory where she was awarded a Peabody Career Development Grant.
Seonghyeon Park, MM

Baritone Seonghyeon Park, a native of South Korea, is pursuing a Master of Music degree at The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. He is the recipient of the Peabody General Scholarship Award and studies with Steven Rainbolt. Previous credits include Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Masetto in Don Giovanni with the University of Suwon. This year, he performed the role of Macbeth in scenes from Verdi’s Macbeth with Peabody’s Acting for Opera, and the role of Marcello in scenes from Puccini’s La bohème with Opera Styles and Traditions class. His upcoming performances include Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Baltimore’s Lyric Opera House, Nilakantha in Delibes's Lakmé with the Peabody Opera Theatre.
Vanessa Rosas, MM1

Vanessa Rosas is a 1st year Master’s student at the Peabody Conservatory, majoring in Vocal Performance/Pedagogy. Her roles performed include Papagena in the Townsend Opera Production of The Magic Flute, and Valencienne in TOP’s production of the Merry Widow. She has performed in the ensemble of Townsend Opera Player productions such as Pagliachi, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Romeo and Juliet, Madama Butterfly, The Mikado, and Carmen. Vanessa has also performed, with the Modesto Symphony Chorus, Beethoven’s ninth symphony, Poulenc’s Gloria, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and Mozart’s Requiem. She has been awarded and first place in the NATS regional competition of 2010, first place in the Kristina Townsend vocal competition of 2009, and first place in the New Century Singer’s scholarship competition of 2007. Vanessa has performed in Summer Programs such as, the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival of 2012, the Oberlin in Italy Summer Program of 2011, and the Bay Area Opera Theater Institute of 2010, where she performed the title role of Suor Angelica. Vanessa is under the vocal instruction of Dr. Steven Rainbolt.
Jonathan Wagstaff
Jonathan Wagstaff is a 28-year-old baritone, currently studying for a Master of Music in Voice in the studio of baritone Steven Rainbolt, where he is the recipient of the Richard Goodlake Memorial Scholarship.
He grew up in Kent and sang with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain before moving on to Oxford University in 2002 to complete a BA in Music and an MSt in Musicology with medieval music scholar Margaret Bent. Over the past 5 years he has worked with a number of renowned conductors and coaches including Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Ruth Ann Swenson, Ted Taylor, Christophe Rousset, and Graham Johnson.
Operatic roles include 'Tiresie' in Rameau's 'Nais' (Britten-Pears Young Artists), 'Count' in 'Le nozze di Figaro' (Sage Theatre, Gateshead), 'King Alonso' in 'Ariel's Tempest' (Peabody Opera), and 'Guglielmo' in 'Cosi fan tutte' (Peabody Mozart Ensemble). Prizes include 1st place for 'Advanced College Men' in the NATS Competition, Mid-Atlantic Region, 2012.
Elizabeth Walton, MM2
Elizabeth Walton, a Lyric Soprano is currently pursuing her Masters degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music at the Johns Hopkins University. Native of Pennsylvania, she received her Bachelors of Music degree from the Pennsylvania State University. Elizabeth performed many roles with the Penn State Opera Theater her favorites include Laetitia in Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief, and Cherubino from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. Currently she is preparing to cover Donna Elvira from Mozart’s Don Giovanni in Peabody’s fall collaboration with the Lyric Opera Baltimore on the Lyric Opera Stage.
Krystal Waters, GPD1

Krystal Waters is a graduate of Converse College, Petrie School of Music where she received her Master of Music in vocal performance as a student of Mrs. Rebecca Turner. While at he Petrie School of Music, she performed as Ms. Todd from Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief on the main stage as well as Ortrud from Wagner’s Lohengrin, Mrs. Sedley from Britten’s Peter Grimes, Jo from Adamo’s Little Women, and Baba from Menotti’s The Medium in the Opera Scenes performances. She received her Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from Valparaiso University. While at Valparaiso University, she performed as Women One from Sondheim’s Side by Side by Sondheim and as the Sorceress from Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. She is also a former member of the Chicago Choral Artists and is a soloist on their newest album.
Sangmee Won, MM2
Sangmee Won, lyric soprano, is currently a second year Master's student at the Peabody Conservatory studying with Steven Rainbolt. She received her Bachelors of Music degree from Ewha Womans University in South Korea and studied with Ji-hwa Shin and Mi-ja Park. While she was in Korea she won the second prize of the Music Art Evaluation Competition, placed third in the National Student Music Competition at Hoseo University and the National Music Competition at University of Kimpo. She also participated in many concerts, master classes and music camps.
Ms. Won is a singer for Eileen Cornett’s undergraduate accompaniment class and sang for Hyun-ok Wang’s accompaniment class in Korea. She has performed and studied a number of roles and scenes including Mimi from “La Bohéme”, Magda in “La Rondine” and Violetta from “La Traviata”. In November she will be performing a scene from “La Rondine” as Magda at Peabody.
