Christopher Newport University invites applications for the full-time faculty position in piano and collaborative arts. This is a full-time faculty position (renewable, non-tenure-track) with the academic rank of instructor or lecturer, depending on academic qualifications.

The successful candidate will be a professional performer, a highly effective teacher, and an enthusiastic recruiter who will continue to build the piano program and vocal ensembles to regional/national prominence. Performing responsibilities include serving as the pianist for Opera Workshop, Opera CNU, and Music Theatre in addition to serving as the collaborative artist for select faculty recitals and entrance auditions. The successful candidate will also teach piano majors, keyboard literature and pedagogy, and/or other courses in the candidate’s areas of expertise.

A master’s degree in piano performance or accompanying and significant professional experience as a collaborative artist are required; a doctorate in piano performance or accompanying is preferred. Candidates with an earned doctorate can expect an initial appointment at the rank of lecturer while candidate with a master’s degree can expect an initial appointment at the rank of instructor. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and academic credentials.
