Call for Performers - Wednesday Noon Concert Series
Emmanuel Episcopal Church

Date: Nov. 8, 2012
Update: Nov. 12, 2012 - Applications no longer being accepted from solo pianists
Location: 811 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, MD 21201
URL: http://emmanueldowntown.org/

Emmanuel Episcopal Church seeks musicians performing in all genres to apply to be part of our Wednesday noon free concert series, A Joyful Noise. This series is designed for people who live and work in the Mt. Vernon area and may only have an hour for lunch. A free lunch is provided at every performance and a free-will offering is taken up to benefit a different non-profit social service organization each month (during October the offerings went to A Moveable Feast; during November the beneficiary is Bea Gaddy's Women and Children Center).

We have a well-maintained Steinway M grand available. We pay a $100 honorarium for each concert - that's the total, non-negotiable amount paid. Performers also receive a digital sound recording of their program. We're currently inviting applications to perform in January through May 2013.

To Apply: Email resume, website link, proposed 30 minute program, and preferred dates to John Bowen at johnmorganbowen@gmail.com. Ensembles should include a mission statement. We aim to provide diverse concerts, so performers are encouraged to submit creative programs. Note: As of Nov. 12, applications are no longer being accepted from solo pianists.

Road Scholar at Peabody Program

Road Scholar is the world’s largest educational and travel organization for older adults. The Road Scholar at Peabody program attracts senior citizens from all over the country to the Peabody campus for intensive week-long music education classes.

The participants are on campus from Sunday through Friday each week throughout the year, staying in the Peabody Inn and sharing the dining hall with Peabody students.  Most Road Scholar participants are retired professionals who come to Peabody in pursuit of lifelong learning experiences in music.  They are an important part of the Peabody community and provide a warm, intelligent and  responsive audience for student recitals and concerts.

We welcome all Peabody students to sign up for a Road Scholar recital. We schedule recitals at 7:15 and 8:30 PM Sunday through Thursday evenings most weeks of the year. They are performed in the various recital venues on campus as well as in Conservatory 308. The recitals should be approximately 50 minutes long. This is wonderful opportunity  for students to build stage presence and  perform repertoire in front of appreciative audiences.

Many Peabody teachers encourage their students to schedule a Road Scholar recital; however, teacher approval is not required.

To schedule a recital contact Barbara Wadyka at bwadyka1@peabody.jhu.edu.
