Awards and Opportunities

The Peabody Career Development Fund assists advanced students who have been at Peabody at least one year in the development of their careers. Generally these grants are not more than $1,000 and constitute not more than half of the total cost of a project. Application may be made at any time throughout the year (two to three months in advance of the event) and is submitted to the Director of the Conservatory. Awards are given three times a year; qualified students may receive two awards per lifetime with the second award following an intervening year. Application guidelines are available in the Peabody Office of Career Counseling and Placement.

The Presser Foundation Music Award of $5,000 is given to a returning graduate student who has demonstrated both excellence in an area for which Peabody offers a degree and outstanding promise at Peabody for a distinguished career in the field of music. The Award is not for tuition, rather for enrichment, musical advancement and opportunities not normally provided in a university/conservatory setting. Applications (Spring deadline) may be obtained from the Director's Office.

In addition to the above, Peabody has various composition competitions, including:

  • Virginia Carty deLillo Competition
  • Macht Orchestra Cometition
  • Peabody Camerata Competition
