Undergraduate Audition Repertoire
Marimba
- Four mallet solo (approximately 5-12 minutes in length)
- Two mallet transcription of any movement of a cello suite or violin partita or sonata by J.S. Bach
- 2 mallet sight reading will be required
Timpani
- Etude of candidate's choice from any of the following: Elliott Carter Eight Pieces for Solo Timpani, Richard Hochrainer Etuden Fur Timpani, Jacques Delecluse Vingt Etudes, or Vic Firth The Solo Timapnist
- Candidate will be expected to recognize and sing intervals played on the piano and demonstrate fluency of tuning
Snare Drum
- One Etude from either Cirone Portraits in Rhythm, or Delecluse Douze Etudes
Excerpts from the standard orchestral repertoire for Timpani, snare drum and xylophone suggested, but not required.
Graduate Audition Repertoire
A Pre-screening Video is Required.
Solo Selections for Pre-screening:
- A major work for either marimba or vibraphone
- One piece from Elliott Carter's Eight Pieces for Four Timpani
- A solo piece for multiple percussionAn étude for snare drum

- A solo piece for multiple percussion (7-15 min duration)
Timpani

- An etude from Delecluse Douze Etudes, Cirone Portraits in Rhythm.
- 2 excerpts from the standard orchestral repertoire
Xylophone
- 2 excerpts from the standard orchestral repertoire
Glockenspiel
- 2 excerpts from the standard orchestral repertoire
