Joint Degree Program

The very first of it's kind anywhere in the world, students in the Joint-degree program earn bachelors degrees from both Peabody and Yong Siew Toh while also...

  • learning from two different teaching perspectives
  • experiencing a new culture through immersion
  • meet new friends
  • grow professionally by mastering styles of both East and West
  • travel (Singapore is just a boat ride away from Malaysia,Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Vietnam)
  • and much more!

Admission Requirements

Admission to the Joint Degree program requires measures of assessment beyond the admission procedures for standard undergraduate admission. Peabody students who have matriculated to the BM program will apply for the Joint Degree program in their second semester of their freshman year. In addition to their interview and audition, potential students will need to demonstrate a strong command of the English language and a G.P.A. of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants for the Joint Degree program should also be capable of articulating why the Joint Degree program will have meaning for their music educational and performance contexts. Final admission decisions are made by a committee of faculty from both campuses.

The Joint Degree program combines elements of each conservatory's curriculum for specific majors. Peabody students begin in Baltimore and benefit from fixed terms of study in Singapore. Of eight total semesters of undergraduate study, Peabody students spend three semesters at Yong Siew Toh.

Peabody students admitted to the Joint Degree program will remain Peabody students during the three semesters in which they study abroad, and all Peabody financial aid and scholarship will continue during their semesters in Singapore. Students are exempted from paying tuition and fees to the partner institution. Peabody may provide support for airfare and related expenses incurred by students traveling to Singapore if available and merited.
