Academic Affairs Office

Leakin Hall, Second Floor
410-234-4622

The Office of Academic Affairs serves the academic and musical mission of the
Peabody Institute by administering the curricula of the Conservatory’s degree
programs. Academic Affairs regulates academic requirements, performance
requirements, and the integrity of curricular offerings. Moreover, the office monitors
student progress through their degrees. The academic program coordinator
facilitates the associate dean’s work and oversees most of the routine duties of
the office, providing academic support, coordinating tutoring, and keeping
essential records for the faculty’s standing curricular committees. Academic Affairs,
through its regular work with departments and standing committees of the Faculty
Assembly, also coordinates advising for juniors, seniors, and graduate students.
The academic program coordinator assigns first year students and sophmores with
academic advisors in the student affairs office, Music Education, and Recording Arts
departments.

Tutoring

Peer Tutors

Peabody provides tutoring for undergraduate students who are experiencing
difficulty in an academic course. The tutoring program is managed through
the Office of Academic Affairs. A student seeking tutoring submits an online tutoring
request (accessible at www.peabody. jhu.edu/tutoring). The academic program
coordinator then confers with the faculty for the course before assigning a tutor.
A student who wishes to be employed as a peer tutor must be recommended
by a faculty member in the appropriate area of academic study. The student
should request a recommendation to be sent directly to the academic program
coordinator.

Writing Tutors

A student who wishes to be employed as a writing tutor should consult with Dr. Hollis
Robbins.
