The Peabody Preparatory offers non-credit courses and individual instruction on all orchestral instruments, guitar, piano, voice, and dance for students of all ages and abilities. The faculty consists of outstanding instructors from the Baltimore/Washington area. Preparatory students may register (on a part-time basis) for private or group lessons, as well as for theory, composition, and ensembles.
The Preparatory faculty includes distinguished performers and educators with many years of teaching experience. The school is recognized nationally for its achievements in training students who have become accomplished and widely recognized performers. The majority of Preparatory activity takes place after classroom or work hours and on Saturdays. Conservatory students may take one dance class per semester on a space-available basis at no charge. Registration for the class must be completed before the start of the Preparatory semester. To enroll, obtain a cross-registration form and a Preparatory catalog and follow the enrollment instructions therein.
The Preparatory employs a number of Conservatory students each year as accompanists in both dance and music classes. Interested students should submit a resume to the Preparatory Office at the beginning of the academic year. If positions are available, students will then be contacted for an audition by an accompanist coordinator. After a successful audition, the coordinator will make assignments.
