Schapiro House, Basement

As with any urban campus, security is an important concern for every member of the Peabody community. The Campus Security Office provides a full range of security services to the campus community 24 hours a day. Guided by its communitybased philosophy, the department maintains a proprietary staff, some of whom are commissioned police officers with full arrest powers. Campus Security is charged with the responsibility of reporting, investigating, and taking action on crimes that are committed on campus, maintaining Campus Security and order, responding to medical emergencies, reporting safety hazards and maintenance problems, and reporting and/or taking action on violations of school policies. Campus Security also assists authorized individuals with gaining access to locked rooms. A number of closed circuit cameras around the perimeter of the Peabody Institute record activities for security and safety purposes.
