Disability Resources

The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University values diversity and inclusion.
We are committed to a climate of mutual respect and civility among members of
our community. Peabody recognizes that disability is an aspect of diversity that adds
richness to our community. To this end, Disability Resources in the Student Affairs
Office collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to create learning environments
that are usable, equitable, inclusive and welcoming. However, there may be times
when there are aspects of the instruction or design of courses that result in barriers
to inclusion or to accurate assessment of achievement. Students with disabilities
who anticipate barriers to full participation in courses and/or campus activities
are encouraged to contact Katsura Kurita, associate dean for student affairs and
disability resources coordinator, in the Student Affairs Office.

Students must register with Disability Resources to receive reasonable accommodations.
Forms and guidelines to document a disability may be found at
www.peabody.jhu.edu/disability. Students are encouraged to identify themselves as
early as possible as it takes time to fully evaluate all available information and
some accommodations may need time to implement. Even if a student does not
anticipate needing any accommodation at this time, we encourage the student
to bring or send in documentation and contact the disability resources coordinator.
In this way, this office will be ready to move with expediency on a request that
may surface at a later date.
