2010 Spring Dance Showcase

Presenting new works choreographed by Meredith Rainey, Katherine Morris and Carol Bartlett, with notable guest dancers and senior Peabody Dance students.
The guest dancers will perform in two works by Mr. Rainey. One of these is an expansion of a work he originally set to the first movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, to be performed by the original cast, Pennsylvania Ballet dancers James Ihde, Hawley Rowe, and Francis Veyette. The expanded work uses the entire sonata, which will be played live by Peabody Dance pianist Mark Williams, and incorporates our own Peabody Dance students.
The second work by Mr. Rainey is his version of the pas de deux from the balcony scene of Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. Mr. Ihde will dance with former Nashville Ballet dancer Christine Buttorff.
The performance will also include new pieces by guest choreographer Katherine Morris and Peabody Dance Artistic Director Carol Bartlett. Ms. Morris is using music by Beethoven, and Ms. Bartlett is using music by John Adams.
Peabody Dance is exceedingly proud of its nine-year association with the Pennsylvania Ballet, developed through Barbara Weisberger, Peabody Dance Artistic Advisor and the founder of the PA Ballet.
