Peabody Jazz Orchestra

Michael Formanek, Director

The Peabody Jazz Orchestra, led by Michael Formanek, is a jazz big band comprised of saxophones, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, trumpets, trombones, euphonium, horn, tuba, piano, guitar, drums, vibes, and hand percussion. It is one of the required large ensembles for jazz performance majors during each semester of enrollment in the program, and is designed to provide performance experience with literature encompassing all of the jazz idioms.

Membership in the Jazz Orchestra is not limited to jazz majors alone. Any interested Peabody student, no matter what instrument or degree program, is welcome to audition. Detailed audition information can be found on the Jazz Auditions page of the Peabody Ensemble Office web site.
