Dance Centennial
The Peabody Preparatory’s Dance Department is the oldest, continually existing dance training institution in the country. Over the decades it has been a vital center for leadership in the evolution of 21st century dance, offering highly respected training programs in ballet, contemporary dance, an exceptional list of significant dance forms, and choreographic development projects. Throughout its history Peabody Dance has attracted internationally acclaimed performers and faculty to spearhead new programs. In turn it has produced dancers who are dancing or have danced with prestigious companies such as American Ballet (Balanchine’s first company), Alvin Ailey and Mark Morris.
