Tuned-In

The Tuned-In program offers full scholarships to musically talented Baltimore City youth to the Peabody Preparatory. In addition to weekly private lessons with Preparatory faculty,  Tuned-In participants have the opportunity to work with accompanists and to attend concerts and other cultural events around Baltimore.

Nyshae Cheetam is a fourth grader at Baltimore City’s Lockerman-Bundy Elementary School. She was identified by her music teacher Evie Jeffries as a child with extraordinary musical talent. Ms. Jeffries recommended her for the Tuned In Program at Peabody. Nyshae now receives free private saxophone lessons at Peabody and is part of the Peabody Wind Ensemble.

Mateen Milan was selected by Peabody for the Tuned In Program, and his talent has blossomed. He has only been playing the bassoon for a year and a half, but has already raised the bar. This fourteen year old freshman at the Baltimore School for the Arts, has studied with Monica Schwartz and Julie Gregorian.
