The Peabody Institute Legacy Circle
Allan Jensen and his wife, Claire, serve as co-chairs of the Peabody Legacy Circle. He is a member of the Peabody National Advisory Council, and she is co-chair of the Friends of Peabody. The Jensens give generously of their time and financial support, through commitments to the Annual Fund and Legacy Circle, which support an annual opera production and an endowed scholarship fund.
“Claire and I are honored to co-chair the Peabody Legacy Circle,” says Jensen. “From a practical standpoint, the Legacy Circle permits people to express their gift intentions for Peabody, which is important in the strategic planning process. Peabody offers such great things—from its superb teachers and young artists, to reasonably priced concerts that help make Baltimore the great cultural city that it is.”
The Legacy Circle is an honorary organization of more than 100 alumni, faculty and friends of the Peabody Institute who have chosen to support the mission of the Institute through a charitable bequest or life-income gift.
George Peabody, America’s first great international financier and philanthropist, believed in the power of the arts to open minds and enrich lives. He founded the Peabody Institute in Baltimore in 1857 as the practical embodiment of this belief. It was George Peabody’s inspiration that influenced Johns Hopkins to establish the university and hospital that bear his name, and Baltimore’s Enoch Pratt to underwrite America’s first public library.
The Peabody Institute owes a tremendous debt to the generosity of George Peabody and the many benefactors who have included the Institute as part of their legacy. The Institute is proud to recognize those individuals who include Peabody in their estate plans as members of the Legacy Circle.
