OASIS

Organization Advocating Student InterestS

OASIS is a volunteer student group officially recognized by the Peabody administration as an alternative to a traditional student government. The group actively promotes an awareness of student needs and student views to faculty, staff and administration. OASIS welcomes student participation and input at its meetings, and through telephone, email or written communication. In addition, OASIS helps to build a strong social backbone by hosting a number of student activities during the school year.

Until recently, these roles were filled by a single, dedicated group of students. However, as of the 2011 - 2012 academic year, we are excited to announce that we will be restructuring OASIS to divide these efforts, with the hope that we will maximize our impact in both disciplines.

How OASIS Works

We Listen

In previous years, OASIS held weekly meetings, open to everyone, to provide an outlet for students to voice their concerns. There are no limitations - any issue can be brought to us. Note that as we restructure the organization, the "weekly meeting" format is subject to change. However, OASIS will always be an open ear for the student body, and open forums will continue to be held in some capacity throughout the year.  Details will be posted on this site, as well as through email updates, as we come closer to the beginning of school year.

We Act

OASIS has always been driven by a committed and active group of student volunteers. As valuable as it is that we provide students with a platform to share their thoughts, it is even more crucial that we ensure that change happens. Our commitment to improving student life has been demonstrated time and time again, perhaps most dramatically by our recent purchase of brand new music stands that now fill the practice rooms. It is also demonstrated by the on-campus services that we run (refrigerator rental for students living on campus, DVD rentals through the Arthur Friedheim library) and the numerous social events we host during the year.
