The 2004 Peabody Double Bass Department Photo Op

Playing as Principal Bass for the Baltimore Opera Company is one of my primary performance venues and something I really enjoy. Opera has become a real passion for me and has no doubt influenced many of my tastes and personal musical directions. For a great evening there's nothing like a good drink and a stack of "old dead singers" to listen to.This years productions include The Siege of Corinth, The Bartered Bride, Nabucco, Tosca, Marriage of Figaro, The Tales of Hoffman, The Rape of Lucrecia and more. Pictured here from left to right is yours truly, Mara Bradley ('91), Laura Ruas, and Edward Malega, all members of the Baltimore opera bass section.

As coordinator for the Double Bass studios, and for the last 4 years chair of the Peabody String Department as a whole, I have had a chance to understand the Peabody from several perspectives, and be involved in the continuing growth and change that is required if you want a vital link to the present and future.

Serving as coordinator for the Double Bass Studios in the Peabody preparatory has allowed a strong link to develop between the two programs. The Conservatory offers a group atmosphere and and consistent role models for non degree seeking students. There is an inherent Pedagogy aspect for all students, as well as special oportunities for teaching and observation. United we stand.......
