The time-honored dance division of the Peabody Preparatory of the Johns Hopkins University, approaching its centennial: 1914-2014.
Looking toward its 100th birthday in the fall of 2014 - a continuous lifespan few, if any, American dance training centers can boast - Peabody Dance is keeping in step with the progression of American dance into the 21st century. Now under the direction of Melissa Stafford, the current department chair, along with dance visionary Barbara Weisberger, artistic advisor since 2001, Peabody Dance will continue to invigorate its curriculum, enrich its students, and serve its art form and community as it did under the artistic direction of Carol Bartlett from 1988-2012.
ALL PEABODY DANCE CLASSES ARE CANCELED ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10 DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER.

Remembering Carol Bartlett, 1945-2012
Peabody Dance must begin its 2013-2014 year by announcing the death on December 15, 2012 of Carol Bartlett, our beloved artistic director and leader for nearly 25 years. Her boundless spirit and amazing talent will forever remain with all of us whose lives she touched so deeply.
A public celebration of her life and legacy took place on April 7, 2013 at Peabody's Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall. Click here for more information about Carol Bartlett, including a complete bio; to share your memories; or to honor her with a tribute.
