Individual instruction is available to children and adults of all experience levels—from beginners through the most advanced levels of study. Lessons are scheduled on an individual basis and are contingent upon teacher availability.

Students enrolled in individual instruction are required to have a practice instrument available.

Students will also have opportunities to participate in recitals, repertoire and master classes, and either of our music certificate programs. In addition, all Preparatory students receive one free admission (and a discount on one additional ticket) to most Peabody Institute concerts.

Tuition is based on a 16-week semester and must be paid in both fall and spring for each semester. We do not prorate tuition for late registration.

Peabody Young Pianists

New students will be admitted to the Suzuki Piano program during the summer session pending faculty availability. The program coordinator must interview applicants before registration will be accepted.

Summer placement is contingent on commitment to private instruction and enrichment class in the fall session. Lessons begun in the summer session must continue into the fall term. New Summer 2012 student interviews and placements for the Annapolis campus only will be arranged by Ms. Garvin to be conducted on May 19 at the Peabody campus.

Four Hands: Sight-Reading for Pianists
(Intermediate Level 1 and Above)

 

This class will offer focused work on sight-reading and ensemble work at the piano. Designed for students at Intermediate Level 1 piano music and above, the class will concentrate on how to approach reading rhythms, notes, and musical markings as well as the recognition of patterns. Music for four hands will be used to enforce the fundamentals of sight reading. Emphasis will be placed on reviewing theoretical materials and the study of four-hand piano literature to reinforce concepts and skills of playing the piano. Class length will be 60 minutes for four or more students, 45 minutes for three students, or 30 minutes for two students. Minimum of four students.

Piano Play-Ins

Play-Ins provide opportunities for students to play their repertoire and receive additional instruction in a relaxed atmosphere. Open to adults enrolled in individual instruction in piano, each class has a theme such as Baroque Music or How to Practice. They are especially suitable for Elementary III and Intermediate students, but adult students of all experience levels are welcome.
