Allegro Strings
August 12 - 16, 2013
Presented by Young People’s String Program
For string players ages 6 and up currently playing in Suzuki Books 1-5
Allegro Strings at Peabody provides a week of intensive music and related activities. Group classes provide the opportunity to refine ensemble skills, perform for others, review and polish known songs, and learn new songs from outside the Suzuki repertoire. The Suzuki Book 4-5 group will also be sent repertoire from outside the Suzuki books to practice before camp and polish in class. Enrichment classes include such topics as dance, art, and world instruments and are designed to enhance the creative spirit of the program. A music history/theory class exposes children to such topics as composers, historical styles, ear-training and music theory.
Orchestra experience includes pieces for students in Suzuki Books 1-5. Full orchestra and sectional rehearsals are held throughout the week. Group classes and the orchestra will perform a final concert in the Towson auditorium on Friday, August 16, at 3:00 pm.
