Camp Allegro

August 6 - 10, 2012

Presented by Young People’s String Program

For string players ages 6 and up currently playing in Suzuki Books 1-5

Camp Allegro at Peabody provides a week of intensive music and related activities. Group classes provide the opportunity to refine ensemble skills, perform for others, review and polish known songs, and learn new songs from outside the Suzuki repertoire. Enrichment classes include such topics as dance, art, and world instruments and are designed to enhance the creative spirit of the camp. Note-reading and theory are important topics for all musicians.

Classes are divided by age level and teach these skills through ear-training, music games, and written work away from the instruments.

Orchestra experience includes pieces for students in Suzuki Books 1-5. Full orchestra and sectional rehearsals are held throughout the week. Group classes and the orchestra will perform a final concert in the Towson auditorium on Friday, August 10, at 3:00 pm.
