Laura Garvin
Peabody's Young Pianists, Traditional Piano, Piano Enrichment, Coordinator of PYP
BA Music Education and MA Performance New Jersey City University. Garvin studied piano with Lorrie Glaze at the Manhattan School of Music and completed postgraduate work at the Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music. She studied piano pedagogy with Louise Goss at the Westminster Choir College. She received early childhood music training at the University of Delaware and Suzuki training at the Greater Washington Suzuki Institute and with Barbara Rosenberger at the Peabody Preparatory. Garvin has also completed Dalcroze training through the University of Maryland and the Institute of Jacque Dalcroze Education in Middletown, MD, Orff-Schulwerk training at George Mason University, Body, Mind and Voice training, and a member of the Voice Care Network at St. John’s University Minnesota. A certified American Montessori Teacher, as well as a former teacher trainer at the Maryland Montessori Teacher Training Institute. In addition to her Peabody position, Garvin is the Early Childhood Music Specialist, high school choir accompanist, and Senior Music project coach at the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD. Garvin also serves as assistant organist and choir accompanist at Second Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, MD.
