Emily Price
Early Childhood
Violinist Emily Jane Price holds a master's degree in violin performance and pedagogy from the Peabody Conservatory, where she studied performance with Pamela Frank and pedagogy with Rebecca Henry; previous teachers include Igor and Vesna Gruppman (former students of David Oistrakh and Jascha Heifetz respectively), Jack Ashton, Gerald Elias, Deborah Moench, and Hiroko Primrose. Wanting to follow in her big sister's footsteps, Price began studying the violin at the age of four. By the age of twelve, she had soloed with the Utah Symphony under the direction of Joseph Silverstein, become an active chamber musician in the community, and was tutoring younger violinists. Price began directing the early childhood music program at the Cedarcroft Preschool in 2005 where she continues to teach today. She also maintains a private violin studio. As soloist, chamber musician, and concert mistress of the Young Artist Chamber Players and the Youth Camerata, Price has performed throughout the United States and Europe. She has been a member of the Utah Chamber Artist Players, the Idyllwild Festival Orchestra, and the Orchestra at Temple Square. She has frequently performed with and recorded for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir including weekly shows broadcast worldwide and special performances with Bryn Terfel, Frederica Von Stade, Audra McDonald, and Angela Lansbury. As a freelance violinist, she has also performed with Mandy Moore and Lonestar. As a chamber musician, Price received much of her training as a four-year participant in the Idyllwild Chamber Music Festival, in Chamber Seminar with the Peabody Trio, and at home with her beloved and talented siblings.
