In a new commitment to providing excellent guitar instruction for students ages 4 through 8 the Preparatory has launched a Suzuki guitar program. Suzuki music education is a time-tested, highly successful method of teaching young children in a developmentally appropriate and fun way! Learn more about the Suzuki guitar program.

Older children (recommended nine years old and up) can enroll in an introductory class for beginning students or register for traditional private lessons. In the early stages teachers work with students to encourage a proper seating position, left and right hand technique, fundamentals of reading music, and playing chords.

The Guitar Performance Academy will begin this fall. It is a program for advanced classical guitar students (grades 7 – 12) to benefit from additional instruction and performance experiences. Students will participate in a touring ensemble with performances in the community as well as regular learning opportunities with Peabody conservatory faculty and visiting instructors. Audition will be required.
